About
So, who am I?
I am Max Dörfler. I am a student of computer science and alongside I currently work as a freelancer. The time I wrote this text I was 24 years old, but as you probably know you update these texts once every ten years, so I'm probably older.
Maybe you noticed my accent. That's because I'm from germany. Born and raised in Berlin. I <3 this city!
Why am I doing this?
Doing what? Having a blog? I do this beacuse everybody who works with the Internet needs to have a blog! No, seriously I'm not so much into blogging, but every once in a while I think I created or found something blog worthy and where else would I publish it? I am happy everytime I find a blog where someone has a solution for the problems I'm just having, or someone did the thing I'm trying to do, so I won't have to reinvent the wheel. This is my try to give something back to the Internet.
Why am I writing in english?
I think this way I can reach a bigger audience. My english maybe isn't perfect, but I hope people will understand me. English is the standard language on most mailing lists and forums. The Internet enables people from all over the world to communicate with each other, so why use a language that only a few people understand?
What are my skills?
At university we learn Java, but I never realized a bigger project with it. For everyday use I started to learn python, because it's a very nice and easy language. At the moment I work with a lot with PHP and especially the cakePHP framework. I'm more of a backend programmer, when it comes to styling and css I feel pretty newbie, but I'm trying to teach myself. (See this blog)
I'm running a aptosid system, so I have a basic knowledge of unix and especially linux.
Who I am, when I'm not around a computer?
I love riding my bicycle around town. If it's not snowing or pouring I go by bike almost everywhere. I enjoy good electronic music (Techno, Minimal, Tech House, Deep House). Berlin ist just a wonderful city for clubbing.
